New Art Fresh from the Fridge
Howdy all! I hear-tell from the cat who lives in my radio that today is the first day of Summer! Man, that Clyde must have static in his attic! Where I sit it’s already hotter than a grease fire in hell’s kitchen! If that mercury takes a trip any farther North it’ll surely fry my wig!! Well it may be a scorcher out of doors but the new art I’ve got to lay on ya’ is straight from the fridge…
Them swell cats at Poster Pop asked me to work up some way-out new serigraph art for ‘em and I was more than ticked to oblige! I call it “Late for the Luau” ( Peep a shot of it below. And for an even better look hop over to my Serigraph Page ) Looks like she’s gonna’ be on the large size….22.5″ x 35″ to be exact. The plan is to debut this beauty at this year’s San Diego ComicCon….so if yer plannin’ on droppin in on the Con, take the shoe leather express on over to the Poster Pop booth and snag one for your own fine self!
Them koo koo cats at Korero Books in the UK are at it again! They’re puttin’ together a book of collected works entitled “Skull Face”. They asked me to contribute so I worked up the sketch below…I’ll post the final art once she’s all done and done, dig?
In other Derek news…I landed a gig to scratch out some cd cover art for the way-out California combo the Ding Dong Devils! ( you can grab a sneak peek at my pencil sketch below) By my next post I’ll have fresh-baked final art to lay on ya’….
Now you just gotta’ give a look-see to what makes any cat or kitten a true “Derek Fan”…This hipster by the name of Stephane Goulet sent me the snap seen below….Stephane is an art director at the fabulous DrinkBox Studios. Since art usage rights were not legally obtained I’m havin’ my lawyer either repossess his forearm or have the ink tattooed over with a picture of Papa Smurf!
